My Digital Self-Development Space: How I Created My Own Solo Leveling System with Linux
As a long-time Linux user, I’m no stranger to the flexibility and customization that comes with this operating system. But even among fellow Linux enthusiasts, my setup is quite unique – it’s designed for those who want to break free from the distractions of modern technology and focus on personal growth.
I’ve created a Leveling system inspired by anime shows like Solo Leveling, but tailored specifically for self-improvement in the digital age. My goal was to create an environment that encourages conscious decision-making, minimalism, and productivity – all while staying disconnected from the online world as much as possible.
The Ghost Temple System
This system is heavily Inspired from a system that was used by Sung Jin-woo called Solo Leveling System to make himself stronger. At its core, my system is built around a virtual machine (VM) called Ghost Temple. This VM has a futuristic interface designed using eDEX-UI project, which I’ve customized to fit my needs. The result is an immersive experience that makes me feel like the main character in a sci-fi novel – and that’s exactly what I’m aiming for.
In today’s world, it’s easy to get caught up in the idea of being a “rookie” or feeling inferior when compared to others who seem more advanced. But I believe that embracing our inner “main character mentality” is essential for personal growth. It takes courage and self-awareness to acknowledge where we are on our journey – and that’s exactly what Ghost Temple encourages.
Of course, the doomers will say a lot about main character syndrome, but I think it’s a necessary mindset when creating your own path in life. And who needs validation from others anyway? As long as you’re making progress toward your goals, that’s all that matters.
The Reboot Cycle
Every time your Linux OS reboots, it will default back to internet-disabled mode, forcing user to Enter the Password inorder to enable the Internet, providing Freedom to the user inorder to connect Internet based on necessity, yet presenting a flow with password prompt, where conscious decision is taken by user itself, The system we have these days don’t provide such Freedom, it forces user to go in zombie mode.
This cycle encourages mindfulness and intentionality in your online interactions – a refreshing change from the usual “always-on” approach that dominates modern technology.
My Digital Detox
As for my personal life, I’ve taken a more extreme approach to digital minimalism. I Stopped using Social Media, I have started to selfhost my own websites and chat servers from Home to truly own my content and Data, And To Express my opinion with Freedom.
My smartphone is locked away inside a desk drawer, only brought out when absolutely necessary (i.e., work-related tasks). I prefer using an old-school dumb phone with clicky buttons and a built-in music player – it’s liberating in its own way.

You see, by limiting myself in this manner, I feel more free. It’s like taking control of my digital life instead of letting the system dictate how I interact with technology. And that’s exactly what Ghost Temple is all about: creating an environment where you can focus on your personal growth without distractions.
The Apps Within Ghost Temple
Ghost Temple serves as a hub for various self-hosted web applications that cater to different aspects of personal growth:
- Offline Wikis: I’ve used Kiwix, an offline wiki reader, to get information about almost anything as much as possible.
- Journal: Trilium Notes has been my go-to journaling app for recording experiences, successes, failures, and lessons learned – helping me reflect on progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Ebook Reader: Kavita’s ebook reader allows me to access a collection of e-books that provide inspiration, guidance, and knowledge in various fields.
- Workout Tracker: Wger has been my workout tracking app of choice, enabling me to monitor diet, exercise routines, and schedule – helping me stay on track with fitness goals.
- Solo Level App: I’ve self-hosted a custom project from GitHub, which serves as the core component of this system – allowing me to set personal development goals, create quests, and track progress toward becoming the best version of myself.
The Power of Linux
One of the most significant advantages of using Linux is its flexibility. Without writing any code from scratch (except for some basic bash scripts and configs), I’ve been able to combine existing projects like Kiwix, Trilium Notes, Kavita, Wger, and my custom Solo Level App project to create a digital self-development space that truly reflects my values and goals.
This setup is a testament to the power of Linux – it allows users to customize their environment without worrying about vendor lock-in or restrictive policies. I’m not sharing this system with anyone, as it’s built upon the work of others (which I’ve creatively combined). My intention is to inspire you to explore the possibilities of Linux customization for yourself – don’t just copy someone else’s setup; build your own!
By embracing the flexibility and power of Linux, you can create a digital self-development space that truly reflects your values and goals. Take control of your online presence, minimize distractions, maximize productivity, and cultivate self-awareness.
